MAIN TYPES OF GLASS USED: TG-Double Low-E Insulating Glass

Nankang Software Park is located on the northeast corner of Nankang district with water surrounding the north side, and mountains on the south side. The main entrance axis in phase one extends eastwards to the urban plaza in the Nankang Finance Park plan, and connects the landmark buildings in phase two to the west. East-west axis and urban visual corridor, are the major spatial structure of the future financial district.

The second phase of the Nankang Software Park comprises of technological buildings with a unitized aluminum and glass cladding system that uses 8mm + 12mm + 8mm clear double-layer tempered glass, with 12mm inert gas and multiple layers of double Low-E coating. These special glasses not only prevent light pollution, but also filter more than 70% of heat radiation. With a double-layered glass and 6mm aluminum composite panel unitized system, the working environment is event brighter and has visual penetration. Energy conserving 1.8m wide by 45cm deep aluminum louvers, through precise calculations of sun angles, efficiently blocks sun light up to 180cm above the floor to reduce the functional load on the under-floor air conditioning and distribution system.

Transparency, visual connection, energy saving and natural lighting are major concerns of the north-south facing lobby, standard office floors, corridor skylight, and freestanding wall of Building F. Transparent laminated Low-E glass 323cm by 300cm in size(with a thickness of 19.32mm) is used in the north=south lobby; 400cm by 150cm double-layer Low-E glass units(in terms of area) in Taiwan. All the skylights use insulating laminating Low-E glass 400cm by 150cm(with a thickness of 8 + 12mm). The freestanding wall of building F is made up of the glass used in standard office floors and skylights.

All of the glass applications in this project reflect the interaction between the buildings and their environment as well as present the harmony between man, technology and nature.
