The Miramar Group, in an effort to re-organize itself so as to better align with world economic trends, demolished the Miramar Hotel and rebuilt on the same site a first-class office building that features “light and technology” as its theme. Additionally, due to the site’s unique location, the design takes “Landmark Building for the Gate of Taipei” as its other guiding principle.

The outer walls of the façade are double-layered; the balconies are located all on this façade. A translucent and lightweight glass outer wall is constructed with light-weight steel tubes as framework and stainless steel fixture to secure the outer 10mm heat-soaked tempered glass. The second inner layer is an ordinary curtain wall system. The lighting effect for the façade makes use of the 80cm balcony space between the outer and inner layers, where lighting systems are installed so that the inner walls become the reflective surface for lighting design. LED light sources are also installed at the node points where the glass meets on the outer layer, thus enabling night lighting effects with endless design possibilities.

The design of double-layered glass walls shows off the translucency and reflectivity of glass, the steel structures that support the glass, and the bare steel frames of the building – all of which reflect the endless beauty of the surrounding scenery from dawn to dusk.
