The design concept calls for an outer appearance in beautiful golden color in morning, noon, and dusk; the outer walls needs to turn into a large LED screen at night; interior users must not be disturbed by the light from the LED’s and need to be able to enjoy the beautiful scenery on the Bund of Shanghai; the crowds on the Bund must see the LED screen clearly and not be affected by light from nearby buildings with overtime workers. Therefore, for the overall design, the division of the outer walls, integration of the systems, and the combination of glass becomes extremely important; and similarly, quality control of the glass is extremely strict for this project.
The entire curtain wall is divided into 17 subsystems, which, combined with different types of multi-pane glass mounted at different angles and positions, create the ideal “beautiful golden color” demands by the client.
And this beautiful golden color is achieved through the use of gold-toned outer-layer glass, air space, and different types of inner-layer glass. Additionally, the design of concealed frames and replaceable, hidden LED’s gives the outer walls a character of hi-tech, innovation, convenience, and beauty.
